It might be, but it will depend on what other things are in your computer. Remember that the power supply runs everything in the PC. And the more stuff you have in there, th…e higher the electrical load. In addition to the mother board, there are the hard drive(s), the CD and/or DVDs, etc. Got a TV interface? A fat sound card? More? You get the picture..
Note that it can be a challenge to calculate loads in a machine like this, but know that the 550-watt supply is a good sized one. It should be noted that we're now seeing power supplies in the 600- and 700-watt range. And the supply is considered by some to be a weak link in the machine, as it is often overloaded.
