Gold comes in many karats starting from 10k, 14k and 18k. 14k means it has 58.5% of gold, is less expensive, less vivid and more resistant to tarnishing and the Italy stamp means it was manufactured in Italy.
please tell me i need help!!!!
most of the people that make fakes stamp it with "made in Italy". Italy is very well known for their quality and craftsmanship. Now does this mean you have a fake... Not really. I just means it could be more likely. assumeing it's a bracelet or necklace.... then check the clasp and the clasp links. If it is a good quality peice i should be stamped in all three pieces. Some to be aware of though is sometimes people will switch the claps of a real piece to a fake one. Why you ask? So they can sell the real one as scrap and sell the fake one as real and get double their money. Most people that test in with a simple kit only test the clasps as so they don't damage the jewelry. The best way to find out. reguardless weather your buying or selling, is to ge a test kit. You can find them online almost anywhere for about $15. You can also get them at most jewelry stores and some antigue stores. I's very simple and should come with instructions. I not then Google it. But like i said, make sure to test the piece it's self!!! Those little test kits can pay for themselves x5 just on one test. It's saved me thousands in would be mistakes!! if you wanna know more then send me a message.
Your necklace (Or the metal portions of it) were made in Italy using 58.5% pure gold. Or that's what the mark indicates, as they DO stamp things that aren't sometimes, as anyone, myself included, can buy or own a set of metal stamps and stamp a tin can as solid gold if I want. Have it tested by a jeweler or buy an acid kit, but chances are that it's gold.
it means your ring is made of 14k gold and also it was made in italy
I would assume 14k refers to the karats - that is, the quality of the metal. And that Italy is the country where the jewelry was crafted.
This tells you that the gold purity is 14 karat (58.5% of pure gold 99.9%) and that the item was manufactured in Italy.
Where are you reading this? My first guess is that you are talking about a diamond's quality and where it is from. Can you provide more information?
