Found - it is located on the front of the engine just to the passenger side of the exhaust manifold. It is vertical and read from the driver side. (right hand drive)
The thermostat is on the water inlet side of the cooling system. This is side closest to the serpentine belt, right below the alternator and intake manifold.
Just have to drain the cooling system...
