First make sure that all battery wires are connected. then directly behind the battery is a (DEAD MAN KILL WIRE). Don't worry it's actually a good thing. It's black and about as thick a womans ring finger. If your battery moves around sometimes it may have pulled it apart. Just plug in the male end into the female end. you should be ok then provided that you have a good battery.

when my 1998 Dodge Durango would start and cut back off, I had to reset the alarm by using the lock / unlock buttons on my key remote.

Have you turned the key on and off 4 times leaving it in the on position on the fourth? this will give you the flash codes. Could be the Colant Temp Sensor.
check timing belt, sounds to me like it may be broken
