1995 3.0 liter Grand caravan Can someone explain the Limp Mode for trans and why would Temp gauge bottom out and oil pressure lamp illuminate when trans intermittently goes into limp mode? |
[Edit] |
Limp mode is activated when the TCM sets one of several codes. When in limp mode, all forward gears are disabled except 2nd gear. Reverse, neutral, and park work as normal.
You probably have a problem with the electronic control systems in the van. Has it set any PCM or TCM codes?== Answer ==
No it is not throwing any codes at all. The trans replacement tech said the trans is not getting a signal although it will go several miles and only do this when I come to a stop. It does not do it all the time. I am beginning to think I have a damaged harness as the trans has been removed and re-installed four times in the last month.== Answer ==
Found the problem. Unconnected ground wire in transmission wiring harness. This ground wire is very near to the starter and was difficult to see. Once connected, all works fine. Thanks for the help
