The jack is located behind the removable plastic panel in the drivers side rear of the cargo area (Note: if this is a Limited model with air suspension , there is also a rocker switch located in the compartment to shut off the air compressor before jacking the vehicle )
It should be the same as my 1995 Ford Explorer , there is a " hook " on the front of both lower control arms
In the left rear of the vehicle behind the jack. ========================================================== It's in the right front passenger footwell , in the right corner just above the carpet ( At least that's where it is on my 1995 Ford Explorer XLT )
under the car
On a 1996 Ford Explorer : The vehicle jack is supposed to be behind the removable plastic panel , on the drivers side of the cargo area , near the liftgate
If it's the same as my 1995 Ford Explorer , its in the jack storage compartment , in the cargo area , on the drivers side , at the front of the compartment
The tire jack is supposed to be under the carpeted lid in the floor of the cargo area along with a bag including the tools on a 2008 Ford Explorer
On my 1995 Ford Explorer I go around to the passenger side and tip the rear seatback forward and lift the panel that is directly behind the seat . The ( 2 ) extension rods are held in place by clips underneath the panel
Under the axle tube directly below the leaf springs ( factory jack used with Explorer )
On a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport : The wheel jack is in the cargo area , on the drivers side , behind a removable plastic panel ( the lug nut wrench is also stored there )
The jack is behind the removable plastic panel in the cargo area on the drivers side along with the lug wrench and the ( 2 ) extension rods for the jack are located just behind the rear seat under the lift up floor panel ( what I do on my 1995 Ford Explorer is go around to the passenger side and flip the back of the rear seat down to gain easy access to the flip up panel and rods for the tire jack )
There should be a jack in the compartment behind the back seat.
I was looking at the 1997 Ford Explorer Owner Guide and the washer fluid for the windshield and liftgate are fed from the reservoir in the engine compartment . ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are not 2 reservoirs like I have on my 1995 Ford Explorer where I open my liftgate and above the left taillight is a fill plug for the reservoir behind the access panel in the drivers side of the cargo area where the tire jack is stored
