Your heater core is plugged up....check the two smaller water hoses that come off your water pump. if one is hot to the touch, and one is noticably cooler to the touch, then theres your problem....and it is an absolute bear to change. Go to Google Search and type Back flush heater core 2000 Dodge Durango. Follow the directions you will find there. It's not that difficult to do.

Has the battery been tested, does the alternator on the Durango try to charge?... If the truck runs with the battery but the battery doesn't take or hold a charge, it has to be the battery being bad or extremely bad terminals so that the charge can't reach the battery. Age of the battery doesn't matter, a fairly new one can still go bad.
Sounds like you are low on coolant. Is the low coolant light on? IF it's not on and you are full on coolant try the following 2 ideas. # Your thermostat could be sticking. You need to replace it. Its not hard to do but it's a little more expensive than a standard car. The water neck and thermostat are all part of the same unit. Last time I priced one it was 50-60 dollars. # OR if you low coolant light was on and you filled it up you could still have air in your system. It needs to be bled out.

You must check the coolant level in your radiator and reservoir. Low coolant levels can lead to overheating. If it's low, you may have a coolant leak that needs to be repaired. Good luck!
