318 in your dodge ram is acting weird it will run but when you hit the gas it will shut off you replace the distributer cap you have gas goin in the carb and you have a spark but it wont run now?

I would check to see if the timing chain has broke or if the top part of the distributor shaft has separated from the lower .Also check the rool pin on the lower section of the shaft
