A 60 watt light bulb uses 60 watts of power in a period of one hour or 60 watts in one minute or 60 watts in one second or 60 watts during any period of time.

How much total energy a 60 watt light bulb "consumes", which is the amount of electricity that has to be paid-for, is measured in watt•hours (that's watts times hours). So a 60 watt bulb consumes 60 watt•hours in one hour, or 60 Wh x 24 hr/day = 1440 Wh per day.

That is the same as 1.44 kilowatt•hours (kWh), so, if you look up what your electricity supplier charges for 1 kWh you can figure out how much it would cost you in money. If 1 kWh costs you 25 cents, then leaving a 60 watt light bulb switched on for 24 hours straight would cost you 1.44 kWh x 25¢/kWh = 36 cents.

Answer

There is no such thing as a 'watt per hour'. So the question is really meaningless. It's rather like asking, "How many kilometres per hour are there in an hour?"!

It uses power in watts all the time it is on. The amount of energy used, that must be paid for, is measured in watt-hours, or for larger amounts kilowatt-hours.

A 100 watt bulb uses 100 watt-hours every hour, equal to 0.1 kWh.

How much energy is used by a streetlight per hour?

Yes, that's the question. A 1000 Watt light uses... 1000 Watts. A 500 Watt light uses, you guessed it... 500 watts. It depends on the size of the bulb. ACTUALLY... Watts are a measure of power, Joules are the measure of energy - you can simply convert watts/hour or watts/second to joules but to say that a 1000 Watt light bulb uses 1000 watts is a ridiculous thing to say =D watts are Wh-1 or Ws-1

How much energy do you save per hour if you replace a 60 W light bulb with a 55 W light bulb?

18,000 J

What does 40 watts bulb mean?

An electrical watt is a measure of power. A 40 watt light bulb uses 40 watts of electrical power. It has a relative measure of twice the light output of a 20 watt bulb and one half the output of an 80 watt bulb. A 40 watt bulb uses 40 Joules of energy each second, or 40 watt-hours of energy each hour. In 1000 hours it uses 40 kilowatt-hours or Units of electrical energy.

How much does a 60 watt light bulb use per hour?

Typical home energy cost is 10 cents per kilowatt hour A 60 watt bulb running for one hour uses 60 watt hours .10 X (60/1000) = .006 cents per hour 16.66 60watt bulbs on for one hour would cost 10 cents.

How much energy does a 60 watt bulb use per hour?

A 60W bulb will use 60W X 1 hour / 1000. this will give you the KWh - the units your electricity company uses to charge you.So 60 X 1 =6060/1000 =0.060 Kwh

How much energy does a sixty watt light bulb use to yield light?

It takes 60 watt-hours. Same as lighting a 1-watt bulb for 60 hours; or 60 bulbs of 1 watt each for 1 hour. You get the idea.Notice the units: watt-hours, not watts. Watt is a unit of power, watt-hour is a unit of energy. 1 watt-hour = 0.001 kWh (kilowatt-hour) = 3600 joules = 860 calories = 3.4 BTU.

How much a hour does 100 watt bulb use at 15p?

A 100 w light bulb uses one tenth of a kilowatt of power, therefore in 1 hour it uses one tenth of a kilowatt-hour of energy, that is 0.1 units, or 1.5 p.

How many volts do needed to light a bulb per hour?

You generally need the same number of volts for a given amount of light (lumens), regardless of how many hours you use it. They typically measure the amount of energy used by a bulb in "watts", not volts, and you can find a wide range of wattage ratings from milliwatt LEDs to 1000-watt floodlights and on up.

How much energy does it take to light fluorescent a light bulb for 1 hour?

The average home fluorescent lamp consumes 40W of power. Running for one hour it will consume 0.04 KWh. Units of electricity are charged per Kilowatt hour.

What happens to the energy wasted in a light bulb?

electircal or photo electrical energy. Photons are shot across from panel to another panel this sparking back and forth creates the light you see.Answer: Electricity is the energy input into a light bulb. It either heats afilamanet to produce heat and light, r excites the gas contained in the bulb (in flluorescent tube) to emit visible light directly or emit UV light which interacts with a phosphor coating in the tubes to emit light.

How many killawatts are in a standard light bulb?

"A standard light bulb I would consider to be a 60 watt light bulb, and kilowatts are the amount of usage in a light bulb. From my research I have found that a standard 60 watt light bulb uses approximately 1.44 Kilowatts per hour."

How many kilowatt hours KWh are used to light a 30 watt light bulb in 8?

A 30-watt bulb uses 0.03 kilowatt-hours every hour, or 30 kilowatt-hours in 1000 hours. To find the kilowatt-hours, multiply 0.03 by the time in hours.
