If you have a code reader, you can retrieve the codes. It's possible that the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor could be faulty, thereby sending no signal/wrong signal to the computer. Most repair shops will charge about $100.00 to diagnose (hook up to their computer for code retrieval), then deduct this charge for repair of the problem.
Some codes are "hard", meaning that they will cause the Check Engine light to come on. Other codes are "soft", meaning that they will not cause the Check Engine light to come on, but the problem still exists.
Make sure you clear all codes if you retrieve them yourself. If you don't know how to do this properly, just disconnect the cables from the battery and wait for about 1/2 hour, then re-connect.
Another idea may be to have the timing checked.
I just changed my MAP sensor after retrieving the code with my reader. The MAP sensor cost me about $79.00 at NAPA Auto Parts, and about an hour total time (diagnose and repair).
Hope this wasn't too thorough.
the radiotor or the cams
black exhaust, rough idle, miss in engine, rough operation of vehicle lower performance, higher fuel consupmtion
It means there is a emission's sensor is indicating a problem with the system and needs to be checked out. A scan tool can retrieve codes from the Electronic control module. From the code given you can pinpoint the issue of the rough running condition.
The symptoms of a 4.3 liter V-6 engine timing chain problem is an engine that runs very rough. The engine will shake violently.
o2 sensor
A Ford Explorer that runs rough may be experiencing a clogged fuel filter, dirty air filter, or worn spark plugs. A proper tune-up can solve most problems associated with an engine running rough.
If your check engine light stays on , get it scanned for trouble codes to diagnose and then repair the problem - a malfunction has been detected that is causing a problem with your emission control system , and in your case is also causing your engine to run rough
Bad spark plug?Bad plug wire?Bad valve?*Bad piston?* Do a compression check to check engine internal condition
The belt could be wearing but not show any problems. When the belt stretches the timing will jump and the engine will run rough. If the belt breaks then the engine wont run at all.
Low fuel pressure, clogged air filter or off timing can all cause rough running. There could be sensor issues or more serious engine internal problems.
the check engine light is blinking and my 03 Nissan exterra is running rough
KIA has a 100,000 miles/10 Year warranty. This should be fixed under warranty. The cause is most likely an Oxygen Sensor gone bad.
