The 4runner's have 3 spark plugs and wires, and 3 coil packs. The coil packs are somewhat expesive individually, so make sure they really are malfunctioning before you start purchasing parts you might not need.

Yes you have to take the intake manifold off to get to the other three. It's easier and the gasket is cheap aswell.
