I have been investigating this and I've come to assume that since most people don't use their 4 wheel drive that often. Sometimes the switch it's self becomes rusty and the actuator that kicks in your 4 wheel drive and so forth. Make sure the switch is still getting contact and then the actuator try and lubricate it up so it slides in and out freely. And then from now on after you get it going. Kick it in 4 wheel drive about once a month to keep it free.
Your 4WD is currently not working. There has been some problems with late model GM trucks 4WD. Some are related to the pushbutton switch on the dash. My 02 silverado was warrantied by dealer because of a bad dash switch. This just happened to me. I was told to check the fuse first, if it wasn't blown it would be in the switch. Sure enough the fuse was blown...replaced and now working fine. same thing happened to my 03 silverado 2500hd. its the 4wd actuator switch. i think there is a bulletin on this.
faulty actuator switch. GM had some problems with these.
Of course, you need the switch to tell the relay to energise, and you need the solonoid to receive the command to engage. so in answer to your question, YES.
Extremely difficult, and without a donor vehicle for parts, cost prohibitive. Sell this one and buy a 4wd. You will be money and time ahead.
have the truck on, put the truck on neutral, then switch from 4wd to 2wd
that is a light duty truck.
if the year is the only diference, yes. 2wd in 2wd 4wd in 4wd
A Silverado C1500 is a 2WD light truck, K1500 is a 4WD light truck. Please clarify what you mean about the r and the v as I am unfamiliar with that coding.
Because your in 4 wheel drive mode? Switch and or linkage out of adjustment. Bad switch. Bad Relay. Grounded circuit.
4wd comes on automaticly
LOCK THE HUBS........
The switch is integral to the transmission.
