Best Answer

A specialist requires less thought as he has a smaller range of problems to worry about. This allows him to get very good at a small range of things.

-------

A specialist has generally concentrated on a particular part of a job. They have worked and studied hard to have a very specific knowledge. Specialists tend to have an indepth knowledge of their field.

An excellent example of a specialist is a Heart Surgeon. Heart Surgeons are doctors, but they spent a lot of time becoming an expert in how to treat the heart and how to repair it.

Another specialist would be a race car mechanic. While the person is a mechanic, they possess a very special and detailed knowledge of high performance engines, knowledge that the average mechanic would not possess.

Benefits? Satisfaction of having this knowledge is often a driving force for someone who specialises.

Specialists tend to be well paid. They spent time and money aquiring their knowledge and so are paid more than someone who has a general knowledge.
