∙ 12y agoIn general terms, glass/plastic elements, a focus helix to move some elements in relation to others to permit focus, a similar mechanism to change focal length (zoom), an iris diaphragm to control the amount of light reaching the film/sensor and some means of connecting it to the camera body.
Digital SLR lenses also often include a computer chip, a focus motor and the required contacts to link both to the computer/sensors in the camera body.
It's almost impossible to be more specific as individual lenses are often either covered by patents or shrouded in secrecy. It's not a good idea to take one apart unless you can afford to lose it.
