the v6 is a 2.8 litre engine i am asuming. the carb has a small line in the back that needs to go to the temp switch on the back side of the air cleaner. this is manifold vacuum by the way. there is a small plastic line that goes under the air cleaner to a separate temp switch that works the air diaphragm that lets in air next to the exhuast manifold for cold starts. the switch on the back side of the cleaner goes to 2 places. 1: the air pump valve that should be right next to your firing coil. 2: the secondary vacuum advance on the carburetor. next the pcv system. now there are two styles i have seen and i am not sure witch is the origonal for the vehichal but i think both wil work. the pcv valve has a hose that will go 3 places. 1: into a tube that routes to the charchoal canister. 2: into the back of the carb. 3: into the deceleration vavle. the deceleration valve should then have a separate line that goes into a small tube on the bottom of the air cleaner OR there is another half inch hose coming out of the valve cover that goes into the side of the air cleaner. the charcoal canister should have manifold vacumme coming from a metal tube that routes into the back of the motor. if you pull the hoses of the canister while the truck is idling you should hear vacuum there. another hose goes to the gas tank. another hose will go to a metal tube and into the right side of the carb. there is one last hose that needs to route to ported vacuum (a port on the front of the carb that should increase in vacuum as you increase the throtle. i think it is the front port to the right. but i will talk about that next.) now for the hard part. the distributor advance and the deceleration valve should both be routed to the same ported vacuum but it needs to go through a switch of some sort, all i know is that it is not the temp switch that's bolted into the manifold. i believe that there should be a line running from the primary vacuum advance to a line that is at the very bottom of the carb level with the throtle plates. just above that my truck has two other ports. one is a little larger that the other and i believe its suposed to be manifold vacuum, the smaller one, ported vacuum. both lines hook into a switch that doesnt bold down to anything on my truck. it should have 3 ports. one says man (manifold), one says carb (ported) and the other says dist (distributor). the manifold line goes to the bigger port, the smaller port goes to the carb, and the dist port goes to your distributor/deceleration valve. it may have a t or a splitter on it that routes vacuum into a switch that is bolted into the intake manifold. this switch may have 2-4 ports on it. basiclly its suposed to stop vacuum to the charchoal canister/egr valve when the motor is cold. if you need a reference, find the egr valve. it should a have a line that goes into a metal tube, follow that tube on the right hand side of the carb and it should end with another vacuum line that goes to the switch i am talking about. its a temperature switch designed to stop vacuum to the egr when the truck is cold. one thing you should do is look at the port for the egr valve and see if its been crimped or welded shut. if that is the case the its uslesss and wont even need to be replaced unless your hear pinging noises when you accelerate. if that is the case don't route any vacuum lines to it, you will probably just end up with a vacuum leak. i believe that the egr/charcoal canister are both routed via the switch to a port on the front right of the carb. but i havnt gotten that far yet. good luck! hope this helps.
