I have 104,000 miles on my 1998 passat. 3000 is an ok deal, but make sure the timing belt has been replaced. I just had to spend $850 to get my timing belt, water pump and thermostat replaced.
You should change the timing belt on the 2003 passat v6 after 100,000 miles is reached.

The spark plug gap on a 1999 VW Passat should be set at .032 inches. New spark plugs are preset, however, and should need no adjustments.
In the facia fuse panel it should be fuse number 33. I hope the fuse 33 is for Passat B5 (1996-2005). The location of the fuse for Passat B4 (1993-1997) is number 21.

On a 2000 Passat 1.8L turbo, the fuel pressure should be around 50 psi at idle with the manifold vacuum connected to FPR. When disconnected, the psi should be 58.
I have a 1999 Passat and in the boot on the Left Hand Side there is a panel with 2 Twist Locks. Open the Panel and inside should be a 6 C.D. Changer.
SAE 5w20 High Mileage oil any major brand. If it is burning oil then use SAE 5w30 High Mileage.

The 2006 Jetta requires about 6 litres. The Passat should be very close. Any local auto store can tell you the exact amount needed.
