Add adhd is caused by what?

As an adult with ADD, I participated in a long term study in the early 1990's. PET scans, MRI's CAT Scans, etc.
I was told that the main reason for TRUE ADD and ADHD was primarily a low blood flow to the pre-frontal cortex in the brain. This area is responsible for such items and scheduling, task priority, etc.
This low blood flow is helped by stimulants.
