Spray vinegar directly on the clothes under arms and let it dry (for potent smells). The next day -wash regularly. I have also rescued some suits that can only be dry cleaned with vinegar - spray it under the arms as well & let it dry out. The smell eventually dissipates. You can also toss 1 cup of vinegar in with a regular load of laundry to keep it fresh (use detergent too).
