They are two entirely distinct companies. SC Johnson & Son, formerly known as Johnson Wax, was founded and is still based in Racine, Wisconsin, while Johnson and Johnson was founded in New Brunswick, New Jersey by a different set of Johnsons.
Coincidentally, both companies started within a year of each other in the late 1880s.
