Mustafa Kemal was a political leader who sought to bring Turkey into the modern and more Western world. His reforms were not anti religious nor anti clerical, and Turkey became and remains a modern society with a muslim religion that includes 99.8 of its population (mostly Sunni). They are "true Muslims" and should all honor the memory of the "Father of the Turks".
