I'm assuming you're talking about chain breaker tools here.

You may run into trouble trying to use an old tool on a new 10 or 11-speed chain, but apart from that you should be OK.

Oh, keep in mind that there's a huge difference in quality between different brands. Noname breakers, particularly as parts of multi-tools, are often simply too poorly made to work well.

Does it matter how big is the chaine for a bmx bike?

There are two measurements to a chain, width and length. Most BMX use what's known as an 1/8" chain. Length, sometimes given in no of links will vary from bike to bike. If two otherwise identical bikes are set up with different sprockets and drivers they will need different chain lengths. Bike chains are always sold too long, and then cut to size. On top of that chains stretch, so the same number of links in a worn chain won't be the same as that number of links from a new chain.

How do you switch chains on bikes?

First you need to figure out what width you need, for single-speed and internally geared bikes it's either 1/8" or 3/32". For externally geared bikes, just get a chain for the same number of speeds that you have sprockets at the back. When you buy the chain, do yourself a favor and pick up a chain breaker tool while you're at it.Chains are sold overly long, and there's no guarantee that it was properly sized to begin with. I'll post a link to a description on how to size them - scroll down to chain length.
