An avocado is a fruit because it contains a seed which is the product sexual reproduction involving pollen transfer from a male flower part (anther) to the female flower part (stigma), pollen tube growth into the ovary, and fertilization of the single ovule in the female ovary. The product of fertlization grows into the embryo contained in the single large seed. This type of fruit with a single seed covered by fleshy mesocarp pulp is called a berry. Definitely categorized as a fruit.

All leafy greens and root crops that contain no seeds are considered vegetable crops. Through humanity's ingenuity some fruits are seedless by design because in some crops like seedless watermelon, the ovules are programmed to abort early in their development, the fruit still grows in response to early signals by the ovules/embryos before their abortion which leads to parthenocarpy, or seedless fruit.
Avocado is very much a fruit, because it has a pit. Just like a tomato is a fruit, because it has seeds. But, spinach does not have seeds, therefore it is a vegetable.com
Some people think it is a vegetable, but yes, it's a fruit.
