The birth control pill is the most effective way to prevent a pregnancy. It is 98% effective, which means the chances of becoming pregnant are very very slim if you take them properly (THE BIG IF). However, there is still that 2% that do become pregnant, but it is unlikely. As far as the symptoms you've been having, maybe it could be the pill causing them. I remember when I was on the pill I had a lot of nausia and fatigue. If you are really concerned about it, I would go see your family physician. Good luck! Stacey
Linsey,
I too have a lot of symptoms. I went to my doctor who told me (to my horror) that you can still have periods whilst on the pill and be pregnant. But later learned that your periods would be different like spotting. Needless to say I'm worried every month now.
There is a small chance of pregnancy, but it's highly doubtful. If you take your pill perfectly it acts as a barrier against anything (nasty) from the night before. Just make sure you know when you're ovulating and avoid that day, and the days when you're on your period. That's what I do now.
The previous person's response doesn't make much sense since birth control pills work by preventing ovulation. I would say just be careful to take the pill the same time every day, without missing days, and you should be fine. You can use condoms and/or spermicide if you are still worried.
