Like all grains, wheat is almost completely composed of carbohydrates. Wheat has one of the highest protein contents of any grain ( the protein structure gluten allows bread to rise) but it still isn't very much. When you see wheat products, think complex carbohydrates. ;)

Whole grain wheat bread does contain carbohydrates. In fact, although whole grain wheat bread is very healthy, it contains more complex carbohydrates than even the all white breads.
