Cravings for non-food things (chalk, dirt, tin foil, that sort of thing) is called Pica. It can occur from a nutritional deficiency, and for other reasons. You should contact your doctor or midwife as soon as possible to discuss this with them. Chalk and other Pica cravings can be harmful to you and your developing fetus. Chalk is not intended for consumption and can have toxic ingredients or ingredients that can hurt you and your baby. (I think a couple of years ago a supposedly non-toxic kid's sidewalk chalk was recalled as it had lead in it). Please call your doctor or midwife as soon as possible to discuss this with them, for your safety and the safety of your child.

If you are having cravings for non-edible substances such as clay, paper, metal, or chalk, you may be experiencing the symptoms of a condition called pica. This is not a very common condition during pregnancy, but it is not unheard of.
If you are craving chalk, talk to your doctor as soon as possible. In the meantime, do your best to not indulge in your cravings. Eating non-food substances is potentially harmful to both you and your baby. Doing so may interfere with the absorption of healthy food substances and actually cause a deficiency. Pica cravings are also a concern because non-food items may contain toxic or parasitic ingredients.
* The particles of dustless chalk are very heavy and tend to fall directly to the floor instead of floating in the air, while the particles of the normal chalk floats in the air. * The dustless chalk writes smoothly without scratch, while the normal chalk leaves some scratches on the board. * The dustless chalk does not break easily while the normal chalk breaks easily.
