No. Daft Punk is made up of best friends Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo who first made a Beach Boys inspired indie-rock band with Phoenix guitarist Laurent Brancowitz under the name of Darlin'. Melody Maker called thier music 'a bunch of daft punk'. Thomas and Guy-Manuel went on to become Daft Punk when Laurnet went on to join Phoenix.
