Are field hockey shin guards the same as soccer shin guards?

[Edit]

Answer

Football/Soccer Shin Guards can be worn for hockey but you can get high density foam shin guards that are better suited to hockey.

Soccer/Football Shin Guards - These tend to be plastic and have a thin foam padding to protect the shins from the plastic but are not recommended due to probable brakeage of the shin guards from the impact of the hockey ball but do not always break it all depends on the speed of the ball making contact with the guard.

High Density Foam Guards - These are by far the best due to the great protection they can give and the durability of the guards less likely to break under stress of the impact of the ball...

Companies are continuously designing better and better guards and a new variation of the two mentioned above can be available, a high density foam and plastic combined shin guard especially for hockey players is better all-round
