most modern phones do not have infrared anymore. This technique was used with old phones to transfer data wireless form phone to phone or from the phone to the computer. However this technology is now deprecated because it was too slow.
There are new protocols for the technology making it much more effective then it use to be and also much faster but manufacturers have not embraced this.

∙ 12y agoNo they do not they only thing they use is a short wave ffrequency to send messages etc. they also use bluetooth. there used to be a device called infrared but it wasnt actually infrared just a short wave frequency.
Some old phones use infrared to transfer files.
