Al Gore uses electricity produced from renewable sources. If electricity is produced from renewable sources, then this has practically no carbon footprint and is sustainable.
Al Gore is not the "leading expert" on Global Warming! He is ONE OF the leading activist proponents for the control of Global Warming.
Yes, he does use more energy than the average citizen. But so do almost 50% of all Americans.
There are also several important points to note:
- he buys his energy through the local Green Power Switch Program. This is electricity generated from wind, solar and methane gas, renewable energy sources.
- he has installed solar panels on his roof.
- he has installed a rainwater collection system
- he has installed a geo-thermal heating system
- all his lights have been replaced with low-energy bulbs
- The US Green Building Council has given his house its second-highest rating.
- the house is also his place of business, so it will use more energy than a domestic home.
- the climate and the size of the house make his energy use much the same as other homes in that area of Tennessee.
