Shingles, a painful rash caused by the same agent that causes chicken pox, varicella zoster virus (VZV), commonly occurs in people over 50 who have not previously had chicken pox. If you had a vaccine for shingles (Herpes Zoster) accidentally, or after a possible but undiagnosed case of shingles, there should be little risk of problems, since all the vaccine does is promote production of antibodies, which that person would already have from having had shingles (or chicken pox).
