The major dangers:
1. Going to jail or prison.
2. Making impulsive or bad decisions that ruin your life.
3. Distract you from your goals in life.
4. Addict you, and possibly make you fall into depths of depravity to obtain more drugs. This can destroy your self esteem, your relationships, your loved ones etc.
5. Make you lose your job, often from a pee test or poor performance.
6. Cost you tons of money that you could better use.
7. Get you beat up by others, for your drugs.
8. Drugs basically change your brain structure over time, and it is hard , if even possible, to regain your previous competence.
This is based on my 20 years experience as a psychiatric RN. I will add that some doctors prescribe inappropriate drugs, usually for pain or anxiety, that are
just as harmful as illegal drugs. They are also sold as street drugs. Just because you have a prescription, it does not exempt you! Anything stronger than Naproxen or Motrin should be avoided for prolonged use to control pain. Anxiety can be better dealt with through cognitive therapy. You can buy books by Albert Ellis, Joyce Meyer etc.
