Well, in some way they can be. They can make your child violent because, if they're young they tend to play the games a lot. The child would think it is okay to do what the game was doing.

Answer 2

NO they do not, it is caused by the parents cause they re not good at taking care of their child. And their bad at parenting is the cause.

Answer 3

Not as long as they have good parental guidance. I've been playing violent Video Games since I was eight, but I would never start a fight with anyone. I still wouldn't let a small child play a game like Prototype, killzone 2, resistance 2,or left 4 dead one and two without supervision. Those games are tons of fun, but are very gory. All four feature bashing people or Zombies to death amid lots of spraying blood and occasionally exploding bodies which shower the landscape in intestines and organs. If you're a parent, you should know that video games affect some people differently than others. It's genetic. Some people are naturally more inclined to be violent. Some aren't. All kinds of violent media can be dangerous in the hands of certain people.

Answer 4

MIT Professor Henry Jenkins in an article entitled "Reality Bytes: Eight Myths About Video Games Debunked" states that According to federal crime statistics, the rate of juvenile violent crime in the United States is at a 30-year low possible due to the rise in popularity of video games and their use by juveniles. Additionally, no research has ever found that video games are a primary factor or that violent video game play could turn an otherwise normal person into a killer. The same article also debunks the idea that "Because games are used to train soldiers to kill, they have the same impact on the kids who play them."

Genetics (predisposition towards violence) is a primary factor. Secondly it's parenting. Good healthy parenting, allowing kids to express themselves to an attentive parent without fear of judgment from them is the key to raising healthy, non-violent kids regardless of what video games they might be playing.

Everyone has a different opinion.

However from a moral standpoint they shouldn't, but it is really down to the parents, to decide whether the child is mature enough to understand that its just a game and shouldn't be emulated! - Yami Phill

Violent video games are definitely NOT good for kids under 14 years. As a matter of fact, studies show that when children play a game or even watch a television show that has violence portrayed in it, their aggressive behavior strengthens. From birth on, a child's brain is designed to learn from everything that they see and hear. Knowing this, it is safe to say that children who watch or play something with violence in it are more likely to be violent themselves. This is because they think that what is on a tv screen is acceptable and ok. A big problem today is that most parents do not sit down and talk to their kids about why violence, alcohol, drugs, and other things like that are wrong, and so the kids do not understand why violent video games are bad for them. This is a growing problem.

I believe they could, if the child was young enough and didn't really take into account that reality and video games are two different worlds, the video game could in fact encourage the child to think it's okay to shoot, kill, or steal things, that's why I think that video games should be harder to get hold of to younger children who shouldn't really be playing them.

Can Violent Games Be Dangerous.... I Actually think not. To my opinion this is not true to others it will be, but what makes a dangerous game dangerous? Its not reality its fictional. There's a difference between the two. Here there are rules ( reality ) which we know and live by, and the games don't have rules its a free for all at times. Knowing the difference is the key because there are people out in the world who don't know the difference, and blame the Video Games. Saying that its influence cause the person to do harm, destruction, and insanity. Its not true it the person behind the game that has a problem to begin with, a hint of rage building inside, hatred from another source building. Its Easier to blame something else other than the true problem. Dont know if this has helped but there you go have a good day and enjoy your gaming.

Yes! Well, I guess it depends on the game. If the game has like shooting an killing people then definitely, but if there is nothing violent about the game then you should have any worries. I hope that helped!

Do Violent Video Games Lead to Teen Crime?

Effects of Video Game Violence on ChildrenAs video games become more realistic and violent, a lot of parents, educators and child psychologist have wondered if such a rise in violent video game activity has increased a teen's tendency to become violent or turn to crime. Many experts have said over the years that violence on television, movies, and video games make kids more violent and more likely to engage in criminal activities. However, a recent study in Massachusetts disagrees with these theories after observing teenagers who played violent video games for several hours on a daily basis. The study in Massachusetts found that most kids were more likely to feel less agitated after playing a violent video game, so it can act as a great stress reducer and a way to kick back. It helps kids deal with their strong emotions that often come during those awkward teen years.Overall, the Massachusetts study found that video games do not lead to violence. In fact, video games are usually a social activity conducted with peers as a way to have fun together. Instead of playing board games or sitting in a cafe sucking down milk shakes, they're playing video games together. This social activity is actually good for teens, not dangerous. That's not to say that all children are calm while playing video games. Some children become too competitive, violent and angry if they don't win, and it doesn't have to be a violent video game for that to happen. However, it's important to realize that it's not the games that are the problem, but the child's reaction that should be addressed.Tips for Video Games and SafetyKeep the console in an open area and out of the kids' bedrooms.Decide how much time per day your teens are allowed to play video games, and stick to that rule.If your child becomes enraged while playing video games, teach an appropriate response and how to deal with his emotions. If your child behaved irresponsibly while playing video games, consider taking it away for a little while or restricting his time playing more than you are now.Remember that all kids are different, and as you are the parent, you ultimately have the last say.

Do children enjoy computer games?

Well when I was a kid I played computer games alot. My parents were right about somethings on computer games but some of what they said was a little out there. But in my opinion computer games are'nt bad for kids but play in moderation --- I did play a lot of games when I was little too. It is plausible to believe that violent games breed violent kids, but I beg to differ. I believe that Violent kids get attracted to violent games. To summarise this I would claim that it is better for violent kids to live out their violence in games rather than to do this in real life. Some kids however does not differ fiction and fantasy from real life. This is also true for some adults. I do not believe the games causes this. Not even extensive compulsive gamers. It is however very important that parents raise their kids and do not buy games for their kids so that the games should raise them instead of themselves. One can at least try to ask ones kids if what they see in a film or in a game is for real or not. Depending on kids answer one should show them and teach them how certain effects are created so that they can understand how and why they are deceived. This takes some of the thrill of a movie away, but it really help kids with a reality problem. Regards.
