Are women affected by taking Cialis? In: Womens Health

Answer
Hmmm, well they are doing trials for women so they must be affected in some way. Perhaps increased blood flow. Cialis (and Viagra) help a man increase the blood flow into the penis and help him retain that blood. When stimulated a man produces a chemical that opens the channels into the penis wide to bring in blood. When the chambers are full they press on the veins that lead out with closes them (like bending a hose) so the blood cannot flow out. This chemical is broken down by the body after a short while, in men with ED (erectile dyfunction) it is broken down too fast. Drugs like Cialis prevent the breakdown of this chemical. Women do not produce this chemical. They do have spongy tissues that fill with blood when aroused but the blood flows in and out constantly, it isn't "trapped" like in a man. Cialis does not make you "hornier" or cause the erection on it's own. It simply helps you keep the one you have longer. If you don't have ED taking drugs like Cialis can be very dangerous. It will prevent that chemical from breaking down meaning that even after you come you won't be able to get rid of the erection (in extreme cases, more than four hours, this can lead to tissue death, it is also very painful.) Women taking Cialis *might* have increased blood flow after they are aroused leading to greater sensitivity, but it won't make them "hornier" or help them get aroused. Women (mostly) have a naturally lower libido BUT they get aroused just as easily as men (in a purly physical way.) Most women with low libidos don't have a blood flow problem. Stimulation or even seeing pornography will cause increased blood flow to the vagina and surrounding tissue BUT she doesn't feel any increased desire. For most men arousal (physical) can create desire (mental) and vice versa. For most women they are seperate. Desire usually creates arousal but not the other way around. So, if a lady is feeling strong desire but doesn't get a lot of sensation, even with proper stimulation (for at least 15 min.) then maybe a drug that improves blood flow will help her. But, the problem is usually in the wanting not in the ability for women. Hope this helps!
