Yes and no. "Dishwasher safe" means something will not be melted by the heat of the dishwasher, which gets up to between 160 to 180 degrees F (71 to 82 degrees C).
That's really hot. Most people like their coffee at about 145 F (62 C) and that's way too hot to put your finger into, for instance.
So anyway, wooden stuff doesn't melt. It might warp or mold if it was left in water long enough, but the cycle isn't long enough for that.
And no. The moisture and heat from the dishwasher will actually make wooden objects flexible. It's how they make bows for bows and arrows, for instance.... or how you make kite stays bow (bulge/bend) properly without snapping.
So anyway, why not just toss them in the sink and give them a quick scrub and be done with it?
Anyway, wooden stuff is so ... like, 10 years ago. It scratches precious cookware, it absorbs oils, odors, bacteria, blood, and worse. It's just not good. It's all about silicon now. Silicon cookware and utensils are heat-resistant to over 600 degrees F (315 C) (although the lighter, more flexible gloves are "only" good to up to 450 F (232 C) which is much higher than most people need for their microwaved fries or reheated Pizza), you can use it in the microwave, the oven, the stovetop, in boiling oil and boiling water, a campfire, the toaster or toaster oven, it's stain resistant, flexible, sometimes collapsible for easy storage (colanders and measuring cups for instance), it can't possibly scratch anything. It's nonstick so no grease or oil is ever needed. I can't think of a single good reason NOT to use silicon tools and wares everywhere possible.
It's also good for freezing, btw. Freezer to oven, or oven/stovetop to freezer, to tabletop, no oils for greasing, nothing gets absorbed by the silicon, easy release, easy cleanup.
Definitely better than wooden stuff. Sorry grandma, but I'll keep your stuff in a pretty container on the counter anyway. I just won't be using it much now.
