They are awesome dogs. If you are not looking for a lot of work with your dog it's best to go with a Shih Tzu or Maltese. If you are up for the challenge you for sure should get a Yorkshire terrier. Yorkshire terriers(yorkies) need to be groomed a lot, need a lot of love and care and they are a smaller breed of dog so they could have more health problems than medium or larger dogs, but they are totaly worth it in the end. I have a a Yorkshire terrier x Maltese and she is about 4lbs and so awesome.

Mine has been nearly impossible to potty train, but he has been REALLY easy to train on other things such as verbal commands. My problem is that mine is spoiled, and he knows it...so he will not always do things I want him to that he doesn't want to. But when I use my "serious" voice with him, he cooperates pretty easily

They are GREAT family dogs, and the perfect travel-size pet to take along on trips too :)

∙ 6y agoYorkie poos are great family dogs. They are smart (poodles). They are entergetic but like to be calm. They dont shed. They are not agecive inless they feel the need to. They like it best when they are sitting in a lap or laying down, and they are very friendly dogs.

For a family, the number one dog is Collie. The number two dog is the labradore retriever and the third is the german shephard. The german shephard is a great guard dog and is protective of his/her family so it's good to get them as puppies and then get them used to your family and people they will normally be around. German shephards are fun to play with and are very loyal. If you want a truly loyal dog though, it would be the Akita breed that you should get.
