Yes, there are many different positions in a school that do not require a degree. E.g. learning support, admin etc. To be a qualified teacher you must have a degree in Education or a Post Graduate Certificate in Education or have completed the Graduate Teacher programme. However, most positions in a school require some basic GCSEs or O levels.

To become a Patient Care Tech, or a Certified Nurses Aide (the two beginning certifications one can get in nursing) you must have a high school diploma. There are other assitive positions that can be obtained without a HS diploma or a state license, but they will not involve direct patient contact. Support services, such as activity aides, and "home-makers" positions may be available through home care agencies to provide non-medical companionship and home care services for patients who need assistance with their household duties but are able to perform basic self-care. The basic rule is, you don't provide actual physical care for a patient through licensed health care facilities or agencies w/o a license. Private care through individuals may go around this rule, but it gets a little scary, liability laws are pretty strict and if an unlicensed person provides care to a patient who is not a family member they may be prosecuted by law and face battery and/or assault charges if something goes medically wrong with a patient, which happens easily with sick, handicapped or elderly patients.

You can have a stable career in the medical field without a college degree. One avenue is as a medical aid. You can be a Veterinary Assistant, Therapist Assistant, a Physical Therapist Aide or even a Dental Assistant. If you prefer to work independently, opt to become a Home Health Aide in a nursing home or at a patient's home.
