Are zoonoses related to occupational health and safety?

Answer:
It can be. A zoonosis is a disease carried by animals that people can get. If your work exposes you to these, that would be an occupational hazard. For instance, a telephone repairman may have to open telephone "pedestals" for connections. Mice may use these for nesting. There is an airgorne viral disease transmitted through mouse urine- if it is present in that area, the repairman could be exposed. A land surveyor may walk through grassy and brushy areas, and be exposed to being bitten by ticks that can carry Lyme disease. A leather worker could be exposed to anthrax on leather from a cow that had anthrax.
