I'm almost certain you would need to obtain a judgment. Check your local statue for small claim limitation, which is the easiest route provided the outstanding balance or value fall with-in the limitation amount.
Once the judgment is awarded, it is then recommended obtaining the service of the Sheriffs office to escort you on the premise to retrieve the property due to you. Or you may contract a repo firm. This is the legal way to go about repossession property.
You can only change the contract if the other party agrees.
