It can vary. Short sentences, of say three to five words, are often spoken from the ages of 2 to 3, maybe even a little earlier. Interestingly some mothers report that their baby actually spoke a complete sentence of about 4 words at age 6 months! This frequently happens, but it shows surprisingly advanced speaking ability for one so young!
