Why would car still just be clicking and not turning over at all after I just replaced the battery?

you might have shorted out something-started, but the same thing happened to me, and it was the stupidest thing in the world and wouldn't hurt to check, do u have an alarm system? my car has a trip sensor so when the battery is changed or shorted to try to hotwire, alarm is automatically applied, and wont start with the alarm on
The clicking sound is the starting relay and is typical of a battery with low voltage. You didn't state the reason the old battery was replaced. If it was because of age, the above alarm issue may be the cause. If the old battery was only a couple of years old and not holding a charge, there could be a slow drain from short.
If it worked when first installed and within a few starts it is failing, then I would suspect something in the charging circuit. A good alternator will put out about 14 volts at the battery terminals with the engine running.

∙ 13y agoIf it starts with jumper cables you still have a battery problem. The battery is too small, is not charged, or you have a bad cable or connection.

∙ 13y agoIf the battery is fully charged and tests okay, check both ends of battery cables to be sure they are clean and tight. If you still get only a click the starter may be At Fault.

Chrysler vehicles have a clicking sound when the starter is bad. It must be replaced, Sometimes they can be lighty smacked with a blunt object and will work for a while but will still need replaced.. try looking at your battery terminals if they are loose or broken

Yes, the clicking is the starter, but there's probably nothing wrong with it. Your battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the starter motor (draws lots of current), but still has enough to turn on the lights and accessories. Try jump starting it or trickle charge the battery.

A low or dead battery will have this effect. There is enough juice in the battery to activate the solenoid in the starter (causing the clicking sound), but not enough to turn over the engine. A jump start or a replacement battery may be needed if the battery is no longer capable of holding enough of a charge even when being jumped.

It sounds like it is time to have the internal battery replaced. This can be done by Garmin, or if you are handy, check the web for instructions on how to open the unit and replace the battery. If the unit is still under warranty, Garmin may not charge you for the replacement.

The engine is clicking with all of the interior lights on? Dead battery... and for future reference... if there is no clicking= really dead battery and it might not recharge. In that case check the alternator, if the alternator is still good, just buy a new battery. If the battery continues to fail to recharge get a new alternator.
