Jason and Jason X are the same person/monster. The film was called Jason X because it was the tenth Friday the 13th movie (in Roman numerals, 10 = X), not because the movie is about a new, second Jason. Jason's name is still plain old Jason Vorhees -- not Jason X -- and there's only one of him.
