Yes my daughter was born today without the waters breaking the midwife said it was very unusual and very lucky , there is a name for it but it escapes me , if born into a fishermans family the child is considered very lucky with an extra life !

∙ 7y agoA fetus grows for 9 months in the amniotic sac, which contains a special kind of fluid (often referred to as "water", as a mother saying, "my water broke" meaning the sac has opened). Since babies live in amniotic fluid, this gave women the idea to give birth while in water as a "gentler birth", such as in a wading pool filled with tap water (not in pool water, though, because it contains chlorine). Since this idea first began, many thousands of women have set up home births using a wading pool and tap water, with a midwife in attendance.
However, babies must take their first breath of air to expand their lungs. They must breathe deeply enough to move any fluids from the lungs up to the mouth. So even if a baby is born in a wading pool, the infant must be lifted up from the water to take that first breath and to cry (which moves fluid from the lungs). The baby cannot be left in the wading pool of tap water, or they could take a breath underwater which would fill their lungs--a medical emergency which could result in death. (e.g. same as a drowning)

I'm not sure what you mean by 'sets' of amniotic fluid. However the baby is in one sac, which is filled with the fluid. What made you ask this question? Often when a womens waters break, the fluid behind or above the baby my be stopped from flowing out due to the babys position, or if the waters break above the baby, then the amniotic sac may still be intact around its head.

How do you naturally break your water to go into labor?
I would not suggest trying to break your own waters. It can cause damage to you and anything introduced into the vagina, to help break the waters, could bring with it infection and cause again damage to you or the baby. Things you should know about laboring with your waters broken are: 1. Without the bag of waters, the baby will not have as much room to maneuver around, if your baby is in an OP (occiput posterior, baby facing out which can lead to a slower labor and back pain) position it can make it difficult for the baby to turn towards the OA (occiput anterior, the optimal position for labor and delivery) position 2. The amniotic fluid acts as a cushion to the baby, including the umbilical cord. Without the cushion of the amniotic fluid, the baby's umbilical cord could be squeezed, cutting off oxygen to the baby and causing your baby to go into distress. There are other natural ways of inducing labor, but it is not a safe thing to do unless there is a medical indication that the mother or the baby needs to be delivered before labor starts naturally on its own.
What kind of danger is your baby in if you don't go into labor and your water breaks?
Once the protective bag around the baby is broken, as happens when your waters break, there is a danger that infection can travel up to the baby. This is particularly the case if you have any sort of vaginal infection. This is why many doctors will induce labor if it does not start within several hours of the waters breaking. The actual time it is safe to wait is a subject of debate. Once the waters have broken there is nothing to protect the baby and anything at all even doing nothing can cause labour to start, even if you are pre term. My waters were lost at 26 weeks so many days and my baby was born at 27 weeks
