A battery charger can overcharge a battery. Because now many battery chargers are used constant voltage source to charge battery.The charging current of the battery chargers is change. They detect △V to determine fully charged. But different battery show different △V. For example,before some battery is fully charged,the voltage has been dropped.however,after some other batteries has been charged for a long time, the voltage hasn't been dropped. And more,although the same battery during the old time and new time show different △V.
So it is normal that the battery charger which used constants voltage will be overcharged battery
