Short answer:

Yes. Long answer:

Canon digital cameras are divided into two classes: Those with APS-C sensors (Rebel, 30D/40D/50D), and those with full-frame sensors (5d, 5d Mark II, 1D Mark II, 1D Mark III, 1Ds Mark III, ...). Those with full-frame sensors are the most similar to film cameras.

Canon lenses are similarly divided into two classes: EF-S lenses, and EF / L lenses. L lenses (a subset of EF lenses) are indicated by a red band around the front of the lens, and are the highest quality Canon lenses.

A 35mm Canon prime lens is an EF lens. It will work on any Canon digital camera.

All Canon lenses work on all Canon cameras, with the exception that Canon EF-S lenses only work on Canon digital cameras with APS-C sensors (Rebel, 30D/40D/50D), because the lens is too small to cover the full frame of larger cameras (5d, 5d Mark II, 1D Mark II, 1D Mark II, 1Ds Mark III, etc.).

Yes, with the right mount adapter.

Canon EF lenses were introduced in 1987 for Canon's new EOS auto-focus cameras. All EF lenses fit all EOS film and digital cameras.

Some Canon DSLR cameras, such as the digital Rebels, have an APS-size (smaller) sensor. These cameras can use EF lenses with full automation, and can also use the EF-S lenses designed especially for them. The advantage of EF-S lenses is that they are more compact than EF lenses. The EF-S lenses will only work on some Canon DSLR bodies, so compatibility should be determined before purchasing an EF-S lens.

I have an old 35-70 ap len and another 75-300 sigma af-apo.... If a by a digital camera can i use these lenes on the new digiatal body?

If it is an autofocus lens then it will fit on current Canon bodies, assuming it is a Canon mount lens. For older lenses they may work with an adaptor but some metering functions may be lost.

Why is a 50 mm lens 0n a 35 mm film camera not the same as a 50mm lens on a digital camera?

most sensors on digitals are much smaller than 35mm film frames, so the lens of 50mm acts lika a telephoto one.

What are some popular Canon film cameras?

Some popular Canon film cameras are the Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with 28-80mm lens, Cannon EOS ELAN 7E with 20-90mm lens, and the Canon EOS Rebel G Film SLR Camera kit with 35-80mm lens. You can buy these on any website.

How does mm convert to lens magnification?

With 35 mm film cameras, the 35 mm refers to the film size, not to be confused with the lens size. A 50 mm lens is usually considered the normal or neutral size, with a magnification factor of one. A 50 mm lens has no magnification. So, as the size (millimeters) of the lens become larger, the magnification of the image becomes greater. A 100 mm lens gives 2 times magnification, and makes the subject appear 2 times closer and gives less viewing area; a 200 mm lens gives 4 times magnification, and so on. A 25 mm lens would make the subject look farther away by a factor of 2 and give a wider viewing area. Fisheye lenses, usually about 8 to 15 mm, give a very wide view and negative magnification. The increased area appears as a distorted "fisheye" view. Digital cameras have electronic image sensors which are usually smaller than the area of film exposed in a 35 mm camera, and lenses will have a different magnifing effect. It is not a problem, though, as the manufacturer almost always gives a calculation of the equivalence of the lens with the digital camera compared to a 35 mm film camera, and calculates the magnification of the lens of the digital camera.

What is full frame camera?

Any 35 mm film camera or digital camera, usually a Digital Single Lens Reflex (D_SLR) that uses a 24 mm by 36 mm area on film or which has an image sensor (CCD, CMOS, or other) to form the image.

Will the canon fd zoom lens 35-70mm 13.5 - 4.5 with macro fit on a rebel xsi?

No. The two cameras have completely different lens mounts. IIRC, the only manufacturer to produce autofocus bodies that will accept manual-focus lenses is Nikon.
