I assume you're talking about hidden damage on a trade-in vehicle. Their recourse depends upon how the contract is worded and this can vary from one state to another.
If it's been WEEKS then offhand I'd say there is little they could do unless they can prove you deliberately defrauded them, and they can prove that the damage occurred before they took possession of the car.
