It depends on where they live! A domestic rabbit can breed with a European rabbit because they are the same specie. However a domestic rabbit cannot hybridize with a cottontail because they belong to a different genus and have different numbers of chromosomes.

No you cannot breed an American wild rabbit with a domestic rabbit.

American wild rabbit Genus: Sylvilagus (species name varies)

Domestic rabbit Genus and species: Oryctolagus cuniculus \

EUROPEAN wild rabbit Genus and species: Oryctolagus cuniculus / Notice anything?

As you can see above the American wild rabbit is not of the same genus so it is impossible for them to breed.

If you're talking about Eastern Cottontails and pet rabbits in America, the answer is no. Pet rabbits are descended from European rabbits, and have a different number of chromosomes than Eastern Cottontails.
This is almost the same as asking if a female from Norway can get pregnant with a male from Sweeden or Denmark.

As long as it is the same species, then yes. Wild does not exclude compatability.

Different races does not matter.

Regards.

Yes and no.

Domestic rabbits are the same species as wild European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus, a species native to areas like Spain and Portugal but now also wild in England, Australia, and other places). If given the chance, wild and domestic European rabbits will almost surely breed with one another. It doesn't matter whether the domestic rabbit is male and the wild female, or vice versa: they'll mate anyway.

Aside from the European rabbit, there are many different species of rabbit/hare, and generally speaking, different species don't interbreed. There are people who say that domestic rabbits don't interbreed with wild American rabbits. However, interbreeding between species is possible (wolves, coyotes, and domestic dogs, for instance, can all interbreed and produce fertile offspring)!
