obviously not. it contains most of its digestive tract and organs.

remember when i was younger i used to take them by the wings and rip off their tails...it'll fly for nearly a minute before falling down. kinda like a helicopter really

No, as the tail holds all its internal organs. The head holds only the brain, eyes and mouthparts, the thorax pretty much only muscles to power the legs and wings, and the abdomen ('tail') everything else; stomach, long heart, reproductive organs... also it wouldn't be balanced or aerodynamic without the abdomen.
