Under Federal law, (18 US Code, section 922) a muzzleloader that does not readily convert to a regular firearm, and uses percussion caps or flint (NO #209 primers) is not a firearm. However, several states DO consider a muzzleoader to be a firearm. I am going to refer you to the Indiana State Police, and the Probation/Parole officers for an accurate, up to date answer. MY giving you a bad answer could result in YOU going to jail, and I'd rather not do that. IF another poster has a factual answer WITH the Indiana Code section that supports that answer, it is welcome.
