The Harpy Eagle is the largest eagle in the Americas, with the females having a wingspan up to 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) and weigh up to 20 lbs (9 kilos). In comparison, the female American Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) attains a weight of between 12 and 13 lbs and a wingspan of up to 7 feet. The Harpy Eagle's talons are also longer than the talons of the brown bear (Ursus arctos); the American Bald eagle's talons are only about half as long as the Harpy's.
The females of both species are generally larger than the males, but the size differential between the two species is still proportionate for the males.

∙ 15y agoIt would be very unusual for a harpy eagle to encounter a bald eagle. However, if it was very much determined to, the harpy eagle could use its powerful talons to crush the bald eagle's neck, killing it. This could happen regardless of being in the air or not.

∙ 9y agoThey will never meet. Golden eagles do not live in south america. Harpy eagles live in south america. However, the harpy eagle could kill a golden eagle in midair flight because of its larger size and bigger talons.

I dont even think a harpy eagle can do that although they have a powerful grip also. the golden eagles claws on the end of his talons have 1500 psi. they can easily rip flesh and deliver a Instand kill to any eagle in the sky just as the harpy eagle. talons on head = mission complete and golden eagle and harpy eagle specialize in crushing the skulls of their prey before they have the chance to attack. either of them could win and Im even betting that a golden eagle has a better chance counting on that they are more agile weighing less and having larger wings and being able to fly higher above the harpy eagle. If the golden eagle had second thoughts he could get away. the harpy eagle has no choice but to fight. like i said. they both kill. They both are the only True eagles left on the plant. Meaning they have feathers all the way down their legs to their talons whitch means DEADLY. so do more reaserch because size dosent matter. I know of a shrimp that can puch harder than any man on the planet and he is smaller than your forarm so grow up kid.
