Yes they can, but it is not the same type of period as a woman, which involves the shedding of her uterine lining and bleeding.

While human males do not menstruate in the same way females do, they are subjected to a hormonal cycle, which could be defined as a period.

Research indicates the hormonal cycle runs over a six week period in males, causing an elevated testosterone level and thus, more irrational, sexual and aggressive behaviour are some of the symptoms observed.

A females period is the shedding of the uterus lining that became thick in preparation for a fertilized egg. When the egg is released and it does not get fertilized the body does not need to prepare for impending pregnancy so it sheds its lining - this is what we call a period. Males can not have periods as they do not have the female reproductive organs. In saying that, research has been done that suggest males often have mood swings every month similar to a women and her period (unsure why this is). But males can not menstruate.
